GEORGE PARKER
ADA-Graveside services for George Don Parker, 85, Ada, are 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 8, 2011 at Rosedale Cemetery, Rev. Bob Langston will officiate. Burial will follow at Rosedale Cemetery. The Chickasaw Honor Guard will conduct military honors and the Ada Lodge #119 AF & AM will conduct masonic rites.
Mr. Parker died Monday, July 4, 2011 at a local hospital. He was born September 30, 1925 in Normangee, Texas to Richard Ira and Bert Joe Farris Parker. He and his family moved to Ada in 1935 where he attended Willard grade school and graduated from Ada High School. He also attended the University of Oklahoma.
He married Billie Rose Hays in 1948. She preceded him in death on September 7, 1998. Mr. Parker was the Task Force Director of off-shore drilling operations for Gulf Oil Corporation until his retirement. He was a 50 year member of the Ada Lodge #119 AF & AM and the Scottish Rite. He served in the U. S. Army during World War II. Mr. Parker moved back to Ada from Houston, Texas in 1998.
Survivors include his son, Gary Don Parker and his wife Sharon, Houston, TX; one granddaughter, Heather Luscomb and her husband Brian, The Woodlands, TX; a great granddaughter, Victoria Hope Luscomb, The Woodlands, TX; and special friends, Ernie and Paula Sheppard, Ada.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Billie Rose Parker; his daughter, Billie Carol; a brother, Joe Parker; and a sister-in-law, Kathryn Parker.
