Geneva Vinson
ALLEN-Services for Geneva Elzina Vinson, 91, of Allen are 10:00 a.m. Saturday at the Allen Church of Christ, Hunter Nickell will officiate. Burial will follow at Citra Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the Allen Chapel from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday.
Mrs. Vinson died Monday, March 2, 2015 in Carrollton, Texas. She was born September 24, 1923 in Citra to Ed and Faye Nickell Wallace. She lived in this area most of her life.
She married A. J. Vinson on February 28, 1942 in Allen. He preceded her in death May, 1997 in Allen. Mrs. Vinson was a homemaker and had also worked as a J. C. Penney window decorator. She had served as the Mayor of Allen for 18 years and she was a member of the Church of Christ.
Survivors include two sons, Gerald Vinson and wife Marie and Dean Vinson and wife Mary Lou; a brother, Ed Wallace and wife Joan; her brothers-in-law, Carl Vinson and Robert Vinson; and sisters-in-law, June Vinson, Doris Vinson, Anita Vinson, Patsy Vinson, Winnie Vinson, Betty Bolen and Ruth Davis; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Bearers will be Phillip Vinson, Gary Vinson, Bill Bolen, Rodney Wallace, Mike Wallace and Eric Wallace.
