HELEN BROWN

HAYWARD, CALIFORNIA-Services for Geneva Helen Brown, 92, Hayward, California, formerly of Ada, are 10:00 a.m. Friday at the Criswell Funeral Home Chapel, Davies Vanpool will officiate. Burial will follow at Rosedale Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Thursday at Criswell Funeral Home.

Mrs. Brown died Friday, April 4, 2008 at a nursing home in Fremont, California. She was born February 1,1916 at Titanic, Oklahoma to James Newton and Locke Belle Vick Hicks. She and her family moved to Ada when she was 13 years old and she lived here until moving to Hayward in 1998 to be with her son and family.

She married Thomas Austin "Red" Brown on February 25, 1933. He died December 2, 1999. They were married for 66 years. Mrs. Brown was a homemaker.

Survivors include a son, James Austin Brown and wife Sandra, Hayward, California; three grandchildren, Jacki Ann McLellan and husband Charlie, Bartlesville, Fred Austin Barker and wife Kathy, Washington, OK, and Melissa Gayle Nusi and husband Henry, Temecula, CA; one brother, Bill Hicks, Arlington, Texas; three sisters, Freda Andrews, Grapevine, Texas, Golda Andrews, Ada, and Betty Walker, Edmonton, OK; ten great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a daughter, Shirley Ann Barker, and a brother, J. N. Hicks.
