Reverend Gene Williams went home to be with his Lord on September 25, 2020 at a local nursing home. Gene was born May 22, 1931 in Fillmore Oklahoma to John and Ida Williams. He worked as a farm hand most of his younger life. He moved to Oklahoma City, OK in 1951. Gene started woodworking, repairing and refinishing furniture. In 1953 he was called to minister. On June 5, 1954 he married Leota Kirkwood at West Main Assembly of God Church in Oklahoma City, OK. They moved the family to Allen, OK in 1972. Gene was employed by the Chickasaw Nation for numerous years and then opened his own wood furniture refinishing business in Allen, OK. Gene also worked for Rhynes & Rhodes furniture of Ada, OK. Studying and preaching God's word is what he enjoyed along with playing his guitar, fiddle while singing at church, nursing homes, gospel singings and surrounding community events. Gene gave himself tirelessly to visiting and praying for the sick. Sitting with his family and friends in his newsroom gave him much joy as sitting on the porch observing nature. His passion was for watching Thunder basketball and listening to Ada Cougar football on the radio. He was a proud citizen of the Chickasaw Nation.
