GENE PRENTICE
ALLEN-Services for Gene Lee Prentice, 78, Allen, are 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Bethel Free Will Baptist Church, Rev. Bill Sagely will officiate. Burial will follow at Allen Cemetery. The Chickasaw Honor Guard will conduct military honors at the cemetery. Family and friends may call at the Allen Chapel from 5:00 p.m. Tuesday until service time.
Mr. Prentice died Monday, May 25, 2009 at his home. He was born February 10, 1931 at Allen, Oklahoma to Homer Lee and Allie Caton Prentice. He lived all his life in the Allen area and attended Allen schools.
He married Elizabeth "Tootie" Colbert on August 10, 1952. Mr. Prentice was self-employed in the oilfield industry, a member of the Bethel Free Will Baptist Church in Allen and a member of the Masonic Lodge. He served in the U. S. Army during the Korean Conflict.
Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth "Tootie" Prentice, of the home; one daughter, Kathy Prentice, Allen; one son, Brad Prentice and wife Debbie, Allen; four grandchildren, Jennifer Parks and husband Randy, Ada, Amber Ford and husband Derek, Allen, Derek Prentice and wife Heather, Allen and Brooke Baber and husband Caleb, Allen; four great grandchildren, Preston Brown, Ada, Kaylee Ford, Allen, Rowdy Parks, Ada, and Addison Prentice, Allen; two brothers, Benny Prentice and wife Kattie, Allen and Eddie Prentice and wife Kay, Allen; and two sisters, Violet Long and husband Dale, Allen, and Glendene Griffin and husband Bill, Allen.
Bearers will be Mark Prentice, Paul Prentice, Bruce Griffin, Randy Parks, Caleb Baber, and Derek Ford. Honorary bearers will be Carl Colbert, Bob Triplett, Tom Gault, Bill Griffin, and Johnny Vinson.
