Services for Gene Carroll Chronister, 69, of Ada are 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Criswell Funeral Home, Rev. Chad Large will officiate. The Chickasaw Honor Guard will conduct military services at the cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Monday at Criswell Funeral Home.
Mr. Chronister passed away Thursday, February 28, 2019 at his home. He was born March 31, 1949 at Harden City, OK to William and Eva Reed Chronister. He attended McLish schools.
He married Sonya Smith December 12, 2012 at Ada. Mr. Chronister was a pumper in the oilfield industry, retiring with over 50 years of service. He was of the Baptist faith. Mr. Chronister served in the U. S. Army during the Vietnam War and was a Purple Heart recipient.
Survivors include his wife, Sonya, of the home; two daughters, Amy Phillips and husband Jeff and Danielle Wilson and husband Glen; son, Kenneth Chronister; two brothers, Hershel Chronister and Richard Chronister; sister, Viola Ragland; sister-in-law, Wynotha Fortune; his mother-in-law, Betty Smith; his grandchildren, Hannah Wilson, Logan Armstrong, Keira Phillips and Derrick Chronister; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his siblings, Lorene Fillis, Lonnie Chronister, Florence Pied, Robert Chronister, Bonnie Harbin and Pat Nunley.
Bearers will be Jeff Phillips, Brandon Harbin, Kevin Turney, Danny Rawls, Mark Chronister and Jason Black. Honorary bearers will be Hal Robertson, Fred Simondi, Larry Fortune, Don Keefer and Glen Wilson.
