King
September 5, 1936 – November 14, 2021
A Celebration of Life will be held for Freddy Weldon King, 85, of Ada, at 2:00 PM on Thursday, November 18 at The River Church in Ada, OK. Rev. Tom Hall and Rev. Matthew Brown will officiate. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 17 at Criswell Funeral Home.
Mr. King passed from this life to his eternal reward surrounded by family members on November 14, 2021 at his home in Ada, OK. He was born to Clinton and Jewel Hoover King on September 5, 1936 at Hart, Oklahoma. He grew up in Roff, OK attending Roff Schools.
He married Janice Kershner King on July 24, 1957 in Ada, OK. They were married for 47 years.
He worked very hard to provide for his family. He retired as the Furnace Superintendent at Brockway Glass Company after 38 years of service. While at Brockway, he was a contract painter as well as owning and managing his rental property. Following his retirement from Brockway, he became the General Plant Manager of Technisand in Roff, OK.
He was a member of the First Pentecostal Holiness Church, serving both as a Deacon and Sunday School Superintendent for many years. Later, he was also affiliated with Union Valley Baptist Church, serving as Deacon and Stonewall Assembly of God Church.
One of the greatest joys of his life was being in the presence of his children and grandchildren. He was a fun loving dad and grandpa who took great pride in each of their accomplishments. He had a heart and compassion for children and this was reflected by the adoption of his daughter, Sandra, when he was only 17 years of age.
He was loved and remembered by his family including his three children, Sandra Rhynes and husband James of Ada, OK; Barry King, M.D. and wife Sandra of Provo, UT; Lequita Gurley and husband Charles Gurley, O.D. of Ada, OK and sister, Novella Bundy of Ada, OK.
Mr. King is also survived by his 10 grandchildren; Michelle Hill and husband Jimmy; Jeannia Page and husband Burt; Travis Rhynes and wife Melanie; Brynna Camp and husband Nate; Brody King and wife Kiana; Alyssa Jensen and husband Wyatt; Parker King; Derek Gurley and wife Bre Ann, Braden Gurley and wife Angela; Karis Butler and husband Dalton and great grandchildren, Shane Page; Shale Long and husband Blake; Sierra Hill, McKinlee Hill; Evelyn Rhynes; Sawyer Camp; Layla Camp; Luca Gurley; Mia Gurley; Arden Gurley; Preston Butler and great great grandchildren, Jovi Long, Piper Long and Shannon Page; as well as Geneva McAnally, friend and caregiver.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Windle King.
Bearers are Travis Rhynes, Brody King, Parker King, Derek Gurley, Braden Gurley and Dalton Butler.
