FRED GRAY
OIL CENTER-Services for Fred Herman Gray, 87, Oil Center, are 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Oil Center Pentecostal Holiness Church, Revs. Farron Oliver, Glen Eaves, and Charles Bigger will officiate. Burial will follow at McGee Cemetery in Stratford.
Mr. Gray died Sunday, March 30, 2008 at the Norman Veterans Center. He was born January 9, 1921 at Oil Center, Oklahoma to Orean Edward and Teria Mae Jones Gray. He attended Summers Chapel school and graduated from Vanoss High School.
He married Pearl Wood on April 13, 1946 at Coalgate, Oklahoma. Mr. Gray was employed with the U. S. Department of Agriculture until his retirement, and later was a retailer at the Farmer's Market in Ada for many years. He was a member of the Oil Center Pentecostal Holiness Church, and had served in the U. S. Army during World War II in Italy, France and Germany. He received the Silver Star, Bronze Star, three battle stars, and numerous other ribbons and awards.
Survivors include his wife, Pearl Gray, of the home; two sons, David Ray Gray, Muskogee, and Garry Gray, Norman; one daughter, Carma Gray Parker, and husband Russ, McKinney, Texas; daughter-in-law, Lois Gray, Lexington; three sisters, Zelma Dickinson, Oklahoma City, Ruby Lane, Oklahoma City, and Elsie Cole, Connerville; two brothers, Bob Gray, Ada, and Joe Gray, Ada; six grandchildren, Diana Ross and husband Marty, Brenna Woodward and husband Jeremy Woodward, Cindy Tibbits and husband Paul Tibbits, Britney Parker and fiancé, Jason Pedraza, Shane Parker, and Chase Gray; and three great grandchildren, Chelsie Gray, Madison Woodward, and Dalton Woodward.
He was preceded in death by a son, Larry Gray, and two brothers, Thurman Gray, and Vernon Gray.
Bearers will be his nephews, Dale Gray, Rick Gray, Ronald Cole, Mike Gray, Steve Gray, and Carl Gray. Honorary bearers will be Rodney Gray, Ronnie Mackey, Albert Jamar, Ronnie Rowe, Delton Sutton, Pug Garrett, Tony Roberts, B. J. Robertson, Dewayne Hinkle, and M. R. Tucker.
