DR. FRANK DEESE
Dr. Frank Deese, 95, Ada
Dr. Deese died on Sunday, September 5, 2010, at his home. He was born January 9, 1915, in Dublin, Georgia, to Reuben Frank and Attie Mae Freeman Deese. He graduated from Dublin, Georgia High School in 1931. He graduated from the University of Georgia in 1935 with a B. S. in Chemistry and graduated in 1936 with a M. S. in Chemistry. He was a member of Phi Beta Kappa and Phi Kappa Phi. He was employed as a research chemist in Tennessee Valley Authority in Muscle Shoals, Alabama, from 1936-1942. He married Mary Keywood Julian on November 13, 1940, in Tuscumbia, Alabama. He graduated from Emory University Medical School in Atlanta, Georgia in 1945. He interned at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia from 1945-1946 and then served in the U. S. Army Air Force Medical Corps from 1946-1948. He joined the Sugg Clinic in 1948 and retired in 1982. He served on the staff at Valley View Regional Hospital during his entire medical career. When Sugg Clinic closed in 1982, he was the last doctor at the clinic and locked the door.
Dr. Deese was a member of the Oklahoma State Medical Society and American Medical Society. He was a lifelong member of First United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife of almost 70 years, Mary Keywood Julian Deese, of the home; two children, Julian V. Deese, M. D., Longview, Texas; and Mary Keywood Deese Jackson and husband Ben, Ada; 4 grandchildren, Charlie Deese, Elliott Deese, Robert Jackson and Mary Keywood Jackson. He was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Florine Deese Barbre and Celia Elizabeth Knox Crawford; and three brothers, Robert Freeman Deese, James Ira Deese and Thomas Madison Deese.
