FRANCES RHOADS

ADA-Services for Frances Virginia Rhoads, 85, Ada, are 10:00 a.m. Monday at the Criswell Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. Randall Christy will officiate. Burial will follow at Swan Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Rhoads died Friday, April 16, 2010 at a local hospital. She was born November 29, 1924 at Tishomingo, Oklahoma to Dalton E. and Clara Ellen "Carrie" Walker Turner. She attended Tishomingo schools and graduated from Tishomingo High School and attended East Central College.

She married George Kenneth Rhoads on March 20, 1943. They moved to Ada in 1945. He preceded her in death on January 16, 2003 in Norman, Oklahoma. Mrs. Rhoads was employed with the Ada Chamber of Commerce and later was Deputy Court Clerk for the Pontotoc Court Clerk's Office, retiring about 1985 after 17 years of service. She played the piano and organ for Oak Avenue Baptist Church for 20 years and currently attended Union Valley Baptist Church.

Survivors include six sons, Ken Rhoads Jr. and wife Sue of Ada, Darrell Rhoads and wife Becky of Ada, Farrell Rhoads and wife Debi of Ada, Harroll Rhoads and wife Susan of Ada, Karroll Rhoads of Little Rock, AR, and Kevin Rhoads and wife Carla of Purcell; 18 grandchildren; and 14 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Lillie Jacoby and Ola Isabell, and a brother, LaVerne Turner.

Bearers will be her sons. Honorary bearers will be Bill Bolin, J. B. Bolin, Jim "Chico" Allenbaugh, Craig Whipple, Bruce Johnson, Rex Munday, and George Jacoby.
