FANNIE SUE CALDWELL
STONEWALL-Services for Frances Sue "Fannie Sue" Caldwell, 87, of Stonewall are 10:00 a.m. Saturday at the Criswell Funeral Home Chapel, Revs. Richard Dickerson and Donny Jacob will officiate. Burial will follow at Pleasant Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday at Criswell Funeral Home.
Mrs. Caldwell died Tuesday, February 19, 2013 at an Ada nursing home. She was born July 19, 1925 at home in the Fairview Community near Stonewall to John Polk Sr. and Pearl Lee Mote Polk. She attended grade school at Fairview and graduated from Stonewall High School in 1942.
She married Ralph E. (Billy Ralph) Caldwell November 21, 1942. He preceded her in death on December 31, 1977. Mrs. Caldwell was a homemaker and rancher. She was a member of the People's Electric Cooperative Board of Directors, a member of the Women's Farm Bureau, and a volunteer at Stonegate Nursing Home. She was a member of the Lula Firebugs and had served as treasurer for the Pleasant Grove Cemetery. Mrs. Caldwell was a longtime member of the Stonewall Church of Christ.
Survivors include two sons, Thomas Wayne Caldwell and his wife Teri of Naples, Florida, and Taylor Polk Caldwell and his wife Paula of Stonewall; a daughter, Susan Pearl McKay and her husband Marlin of Stonewall; a sister, Bessie Lee Newport and her husband Bill of Stonewall; six grandchildren, Robert Lee Caldwell and Sarah Elizabeth Caldwell, both of New Hampshire; John Hunter McKay and wife Helen of Tupelo; Talia Fawn McKay Kerr and husband Luke of Ada; Zachary Taylor Caldwell, Arlington, VA; and Billy Ralph Caldwell, Eufaula, OK; three step-grandchildren, Derek Colungo, Tahleetha Vietzke and Brooke Colungo, all of Stonewall; numerous great grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a brother, John Polk, Jr.; a sister, Mary Ellen Dorley; and a grandson, Edward Wayne Caldwell.
Bearers will be Marlin McKay, Taylor Caldwell, Tom Caldwell, Mike Newport, Bobby Newport, Billy Charles Newport, John McKay, Luke Kerr, Billy Ralph Caldwell, and Bobby Caldwell.
