Floyd William Byrd, Jr.

Services for Floyd William Byrd, Jr., 86, of Stratford are 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 20, 2026, at the Memorial Park Chapel; Rev. Travis Muse will officiate.

Mr. Byrd passed away Thursday, January 15, 2026, at his home.  He was born on February 14, 1939, in the Maxwell community northwest of Ada, to Floyd William and Genevria Newby Byrd. Mr. Byrd was raised in Pontotoc County and graduated from Ada High School in 1958.

Following high school, he proudly served in the United States Navy. After his military service, he pursued a career in aviation and became a helicopter pilot for Petroleum Helicopters Inc., a profession that reflected both his technical skill and steady dedication. His work took him to demanding environments, where he was known for his professionalism and reliability.

On October 20, 1961, he married Martha Biggs.  Mrs. Byrd preceded him in death in March of 2023.

He is survived by his sisters-in-law: Katherine Rowe of Gaar Corner, Kathleen Lamb of Stratford, Karen Chilcoat of Garland, Texas , and Eileen Banks of Golden, CO.
