Floyd Camerer

A memorial service for Floyd Austin Camerer, 75, of Ada will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 27, 2017 at the First Baptist Church in Francis, Rev. Earl Hood will officiate.

Mr. Camerer passed away Thursday, July 20, 2017 at a local nursing home. He was born November 22, 1941 in Newton County, Missouri to Ray and Lela Mae Lacy Camerer. He attended school in Butler, MO. After he graduated from high school, he farmed and also trained race horses.

He married Beth Ann Haupt on March 17, 1972 at Garnett, KS, to this union four children were born, Angela, Amy, Cody and Courtney.

For many years, Floyd and Beth ran race horses and started their family. They moved to LaCygne, KS for 10 years to help operate his in-laws farm and raise horses. They moved to Ada in 1992 where Floyd returned to horse racing until he retired in 2004.

Floyd passed on to his children his passion for horses through rodeo and horse racing. Floyd loved to watch (and wager) on a good team roping, horse race or card game any day with friends. After retiring, he enjoyed his family and grandkids.

Survivors include his wife, Beth, of the home; his daughters, Angela Hall and husband John of Guthrie, Amy Iverson and husband Mitch of Ada and Courtney Summers and husband Josh of Ada; a son, Cody Camerer and wife Penny of Kiowa, OK; his grandchildren, Jayden Hall of Guthrie, Hadleigh Moore of Ada and Austin and Corbin Camerer of Kiowa; his sisters, Jean Mize of Parkville, MO, AvaNell Wix of Butler, MO and Karen Calkins of Kansas City, MO; two brothers, Ronnie Camerer and wife Deidre of Adrian, MO and Don Camerer and wife Rita of Adrian, MO; and a host of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and sisters, Marjorie Chandler, Dorthy Waldrop, Virginia Lee Gray and Betty Rae Schrandt.
