FLORA SAWYERS
ADA-Services for Flora Mae Sawyers, 96, Ada, are 1:00 p.m. Monday at Oak Avenue Baptist Church, Rev. Ray Talbott will officiate. Burial will follow at Rosedale Cemetery.
Mrs. Sawyers died Wednesday, December 22, 2010 at her home. She was born April 6, 1914 at Jesse, Oklahoma to J. D. and Roxie Farris Alford. She was a lifelong resident of this area, attended Pleasant Hill elementary and graduated from Chickasha High School.
She married Leroy Sawyers on April 14, 1937 in Jesse. He preceded her in death on June 4, 1990. Mrs. Sawyers was a homemaker and a longtime member of Oak Avenue Baptist Church.
Survivors include two sons, Ron Sawyers and his wife Lavena, Eufaula, and Eldon Sawyers and his wife Linda, Ada; six grandchildren, Lisa Sawyers, Ada, Stanley Sawyers and his wife Vanessa, Ada, Steven Sawyers and his wife Bobbie of Gaar Corner, DeLaun Abbott and her husband Sam, Poteau, Lisa Krieg and Karen Krieg of Norman; six great grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Edna Cooper, Ada; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a brother, Lee Alford, and two sisters, Beulah Posten and Lillian Wood.
Bearers will be Eldon Sawyers, Ron Sawyers, Stanley Sawyers, Steven Sawyers, Wyatt Sawyers, and Dillon Williams. Honorary bearers will be Sam Abbott and Connor Sawyers.
