Services for Eulene Smith, 90, of Ada are 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at the Criswell Funeral Home Chapel, Chaplain Susan Ayres will officiate. Burial will follow at Rosedale Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at Criswell Funeral Home.
Euline Arleta Smith of Ada, OK was born on May 10, 1930 in the small community of Rhea, OK to Ernest Cecil and Louisa Viola (Barnard) Jones. She passed away on Wednesday , July 1, 2020 in Cornerstone Speciality Hospital at Shawnee, OK at the age of 90 years.
Euline grew up in Rhea and Leedey where she learned to pick cotton at a young age. She rode a horse to school at Rhea and later attended high school at Leedey, OK where she competed in basketball and also the boys baseball team.
She moved to Ada, OK with a friend, Billie Edwards and worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone. She married Jess Barnard Smith (JB) on February 10, 1956 where they lived and began a family with daughter, Debra Irene. They started a small heard of Brahman cattle and shared a little bay horse, "Little Red". JB bulldogged and Euline barrel raced on him in RCA and GRA rodeos. Euline qualified for the then Girls Barrel Racing Finals (GRA) in 1959, known as PRCA today.
They moved to Monahans, TX to work on a cattle ranch and moved to Leedey for a short time before returning back to Ada, OK where they later bought a home in Fitzhugh in the early 1960's.
Euline graduated from Ada Beauty College and became a beautician and owned a beauty shop in Ada. They also raised Angus cattle and stood several stallions, to mention a few; Bert Dick, Dontcha Luv Quincy, Two Eyed Croix and Conclusive. They raised and sold colts by all.
Euline worked in several professions: She worked in sales of hearing aid's, Roff Head Start Aide/Teacher for 10 ½ years. She drove a Roff School bus route and Roff activities bus as well during that time. She was a National Life Insurance salesman in Sulphur and Davis area.
JB and her moved to Wapanucka, OK in 1986 and managed a ranch for Murray State College. While there, they bought The Trolley Café where she cooked. She also later worked at Miller's Quick Trip, before returning back to Ada in 1994. She was a Sales Clerk at a western store, worked at Daylight Donuts and also cooked at Coney Island Express.
Euline enjoyed the love of her family. She loved flowers and took very much pride in keeping their yard with many. One of her biggest pleasure's was fishing. Euline could cook anything and had a speciality in making delicious pies. In her latter years, she took a big interest in all televised sports, where she became a huge Thunder fan.
Survivors include a daughter, Debbie Morgan and her husband Hank of Ada; her grandchildren, Dustin Morgan and wife Lacy, Wanette, Jess Morgan, Wanette, and Cole Morgan, Ada; and her great-grandchildren, Trinity Hammock and Liberty Hammock, both of Wanette.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, JB Smith on January 9, 1999; two brothers, Louis and Charles Jones; and a sister, Lillian (Pill) Whitely.
Bearers will be Dustin Morgan, Jess Morgan, Cole Morgan, Eddie Barnard, Jay Presley and Eric Brown.
