Obituary

ADA-Graveside services for Eugene Edward "Gene" Poorman, 79, of Ada are 10:30 a.m. Monday at Oakman Cemetery, Rev. Steve DeShazo will officiate.
Mr. Poorman died Thursday, September 6, 2012 at an Oklahoma City hospital. He was born April 25, 1933 at Kalamazoo, Michigan to Richard Jerome and Louella Knight Poorman. He attended school in Michigan.
He married Norma Ellison on July 2, 1955. Mr. Poorman was a custodian for the Byng School System for 25 years until his retirement. He later was employed at Kerr Lab Research. Mr. Poorman was a member of the Francis Baptist church and had served in the U. S. Army during the Korean Conflict.
Survivors include his wife, Norma Poorman, of the home; a daughter, Kay Hooser and her husband Dewayne of Pauls Valley; a son, Richard Poorman of Ada; four grandchildren, Tiffany Bennett, Darik and Chantel Hooser, Robert Poorman and Gabriel, and Jessica and Carl Butler; two step-granddaughters, Angie and Kenneth Johnson, and Kendra and Brian Foster; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Lisa Putnam; his mother; and a sister, Carolyn Geese.
Bearers will be his grandsons.
