ETHEL BURDEN
ADA-Services for Ethel Mae Burden, 74, Ada, are 1:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Criswell Funeral Home Chapel, Bro. Marvin Henderson and Rev. Joe Howry will officiate. Burial will follow at Troy Cemetery in Troy, Oklahoma.
Mrs. Burden died Monday, July 7, 2008 at her home. She was born May 26, 1934 at Pontotoc, Oklahoma to Earl and Viola Peppers Whelchel. She attended Pontotoc schools.
She married David Lee Burden. He preceded her in death in 1976. Mrs. Burden was a nursing home provider.
Survivors include two daughters, Cindy D. Nanney and Felix Rodriquez, Ada, and Donna Melton, Oil Center and Richard Melton; one son, Tommy Smith, of the home; her mother, Viola Whelchel, Ada; three brothers, Joe Whelchel and wife Linda, Ada, Bill Whelchel and wife Imogene, Connerville, and Gene Whelchel and wife Vickie, Center; a sister, Pearlie Timmons, Moore; her grandchildren, Joey Wallace, Misty Acuna and John Horn, Tommy Chance Smith, Meagan Melton, Daniel Melton and Kelli Roppolo, Justin Melton, and Christian Williams; great grandchildren, Antonio Acuna, Nickolas Acuna, Jason Smith, Kaleb Smith, and Issiah "Whisper" Melton.
She was preceded in death by her father, her husband, a son, Dennis Lynn Smith and a grandson, Brian Smith.
Bearers will be Jesse Cordray, Ronald Cordray, Bill Jordan, Russell Deaton, Dale Berst, and Cody Edwards. Honorary bearers will be Richard Melton and Dwayne Holland.
