ERNEST MASON

ALLEN-Graveside services for Ernest L. Mason, 93, Allen, are 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at Black Rock Cemetery, Rev. James Lawrence officiating. The Chickasaw Honor Guard will conduct military honors at the cemetery.

Mr. Mason died Friday, January 4, 2008 at a local nursing home. He was born December 15, 1914 at Grass Valley, California. He moved back to the Allen area from Grass Valley, California in 1984.

He married Violet Mae Hawkins on December 30, 1983 at Reno, Nevada. She died December 4, 2007 at Allen. He was a rancher and a logger. Mr. Mason was a member of Calvin Free Will Baptist and a member of the Masonic Lodge of California. He served in the US Army during WWII in Europe.

Survivors include a step-son, Johnny J. Hawkins, Allen; a step-daughter, "Penny" Alberta Harper, Allen; three step-grandsons, Johnny Hawkins, Jr., San Antonio, TX, David L. Harper, Allen, and Donald A. Harper and wife Denene, Corn OK; three step-great granddaughters, Elizabeth Harper, Allen, Penny Harper, Ada, and Charlotte Uteg, Cedar Rapids, IA; and two step-great grandsons, Christopher and Jonnathon Hicks, Ada.
