EMMETT ALLETAG
ADA-Services for Emmett Swaffar Alletag, 93, Ada, are 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 12, 2007, at the Criswell Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. John Haynes will officiate. Burial will follow at Rosedale Cemetery.
Mrs. Alletag died Tuesday, October 9, 2007 at her daughter's home. She was born February 25, 1914 at Pearson, Arkansas to Emmett A. and Martha Ellen Gresham Swaffar. She graduated from Ada High School and received a Bachelor's and Master's Degree from East Central State Teachers College.
She married B.F. Alletag on July 17, 1937. He died February 15, 1993. Mrs. Alletag taught in the Ada School System for twenty years. She was a first grade school teacher at Hayes Elementary for many years. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church for over 80 years, a member of the Tanti Study Club, Oklahoma Educators Association, and the Pontotoc County Retired Teachers Association.
Survivors include two daughters, Mary Ellen Davenport and husband Richard, Ada, and Nancy Jane Campbell, Yukon; a sister, Jewel Hawkins, Mt. Vernon, Arkansas; four grandsons, Lee Davenport, Norman, John Davenport, Gainesville, Florida, Shan Scroggins, Pasadena, California, and Paul Campbell, Yukon; three great granddaughters, Hannah Scroggins, Rachel Scroggins, and Zoey Davenport.
Bearers will be members of the Senior Men's Sunday School Class at the First Baptist Church, Carl Gilley, Gene Davis, Doug Davis, and Johnnie Boring, and grandsons, Lee Davenport and John Davenport.
