ELMER HALL
STONEWALL-Services for Elmer Roy Hall, 87, Stonewall, are 10:00 A.M. Monday, October 15, 2007, at the Stonewall Church of Christ, Leon Dennis will officiate. Burial will follow at Wilson Cemetery, Clarita. The Chickasaw Honor Guard will conduct military honors at the cemetery.
Mr. Hall died Thursday, October 11, 2007 at a Sulphur Veteran's Center. He was born November 7, 1919 at Clarita, Oklahoma to Roscoe Roy and Henrietta Hudson Hall. He attended grade school at Wilson School in Clarita, Oklahoma and graduated from Gracemont High School in 1937. He also attended mechanical school in Kansas City, Missouri.
He married Ethel Wallis on December 1, 1939 at Coalgate, Oklahoma. He was drafted into the U. S. Army on December 26, 1943. He served until November 13, 1945. He was honorably discharged as a Staff Sergeant. He fought battles in Normandy, Northern France, Ardennes, Rhineland, and central Europe. He and one other soldier were the only survivors in his company following the Battle of the Bulge. He received a Purple Heart, the World War II Victory Medal, EAME Campaign Medal with 5 Bronze Stars, and the Silver Star Medal. Mr. Hall was a farmer and rancher from 1939 until August, 1956. He and his family moved to Stonewall where he was an owner and manager of a service station and a mechanic. Mr. Hall was a member of the Church of Christ and served as an Elder for many years.
Survivors include his wife, Ethel Hall, of the home; three sons, Ralph Roy Hall and wife C. J., Charlottesville, Virginia, Larry Don Hall and wife Karen, Santa Clara, California, and Roger Glenn Hall and wife Julie, Casper, Wyoming; one daughter, Myrna Hester and husband Eddie, Elkin, North Carolina; five grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, W. C. Hall, Auddie Hall, and Clifford Hall, and a sister, Claudette Thompson.
Bearers will be Jack Moody, Travis Hall, Josh Sanders, Jeremy Russell, Brandon Russell and Heath Stone.
