EDWIN HOLLAND
JESSE-Services for Edwin L Holland, 85, Jesse, are 2:00 p.m. Saturday at the Criswell Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. Kendall Martin will officiate. Burial will follow at Jesse Cemetery. The Chickasaw Honor Guard will conduct military honors at the cemetery.
Mr. Holland died Tuesday, December 22, 2009 at a local hospital. He was born January 13, 1924 in Coal County, Oklahoma to Ed and Rachel Phillips Holland. He lived in the Stonewall and Jesse area most of his life.
He lived in Willits, California where he met his wife, Elsie Mattison. They were married July 6, 1957 at Reno, Nevada. She preceded him in death on March 28, 2001. They lived in Willits, California, Ft. Worth, Texas and Stonewall, Oklahoma. Mr. Holland was a self-employed drywall contractor, farmer and cattleman. He served in the U. S. Army during World War II in Germany, and he was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Survivors include two daughters, Vicky Holland, Stonewall, and Edwina Thomason, Jesse; one son, Verle Holland, San Francisco, California; two granddaughters, Christine Thomason, Ada, and Mindy Holland, Jesse; one grandson, Calvin Holland, Stonewall; two brothers, Ralph Holland, Jesse, and Kenneth Holland, Ft. Worth, Texas; and one sister, Margie Gilstrap, New Waverly, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Elsie, a brother, Melvin Holland, sisters, Helen Barrett, Louise Barrett and Lois Brashears, and two young siblings, Bernice and LeRoy.
Bearers will be his nephews.
