EDWARD HALVERSON
ADA-Services for Edward S. Halverson, 106, Ada, are 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at the Criswell Funeral Home Chapel, Dr. Pat Kilby will officiate. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mr. Halverson died Sunday, January 13, 2008 at an Ada nursing home. He was born May 20, 1901 at Maple Hill, Kansas to Louis and Mary Halverson. He attended school in Kansas and Byars, Oklahoma. He moved to Ada in 1936 from Oklahoma City.
He married Pearl S. Maury on May 23, 1927. She died January 8, 1998 at Ada, Oklahoma. Mr. Halverson was a rancher in Garvin County from 1926 until the present. He and his wife owned and operated Halverson Shoe Store from 1936 until 1971. Mr. Halverson was a former member of the Ada Lion's Club for many years, he served on the Ada City Council from 1974 until 1977, and served as the Mayor of Ada in 1977. He was a founding board member of Citizens Bank from 1966 to 2001, and he was a member of the First Baptist Church.
Survivors include his daughter-in-law, Billye Halverson, Ada; four grandsons, Terry Koontz, Ada, Rusty Halverson, Pauls Valley, Maury Halverson, Ada, and Mike Halverson, Oklahoma City; seven great grandchildren, Jessica Halverson, Ada, Jake Halverson, Stillwater, Sam Halverson, Pauls Valley, Mariah Halverson, Ada, Kayla Halverson, Ada,Creed Halverson, Ada, and Hart Halverson, Ada; and one sister, Marie Fisher, New York City, NY.
He was preceded in death by a son, Edward Ray Halverson in 2004.
Bearers will be Joe Landrum, Dick Lane, Jack Lambert, and grandsons, Terry Koontz, Maury Halverson, Rusty Halverson, and Mike Halverson.
