ADA-Services for Edna E. Hill, 95, of Ada, are 11:00 a.m. Monday at the Union Valley Baptist Church, Rev. Randall Christy will officiate. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mrs. Hill died Wednesday, November 20, 2013 at a hospice facility in Oklahoma City. She was born July 5, 1918 at Mena, Arkansas to John and Mary Florence Burnett Edds. When she was five, Edna and her family made a seven day trip by wagon, from Mena, AR to settle in Stratford, OK where they farmed and she attended school.
Mrs. Hill was a dental assistant for Dr. H. D. Hall. She also had worked as a dental assistant in California. She married Archie Hill on November 12, 1992 in Port Aransas, TX. Edna was a member of the sorority, Beta Sigma Phi.
Survivors include her husband, Archie Hill, of the home; three daughters, Flo Dunne and Doris Kinder and her husband Sam, all of Shawnee, and Desta Karschnick of Ada; four grandchildren, Charla and her husband Graham Hamilton of Wichita, KS, Darren Fortenberry, Cindy and her husband Lt. Col. Rick Bell of Williamsburg, VA, Chris Dunne of Shawnee, and Chad Liller of Dallas, TX; and great grandchildren, Ian, Alyssa, Aiden, Brendan, Genévra and Kiana Hamilton; Jon and Haley Fortenberry; Rachel, Ricky and William Bell; Brett, Jaden and Jett Chappell; and Zachary, Colby and Jordan Liller.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Don Fortenberry; her grandson, Darren Fortenberry; and former husbands, William H. Fortenberry and William Samuel Pitts. She was the last survivor of nine children.
Bearers will be Tom Chaffin, Steve Vandergriff, Glen Taylor, Tom Bush, Glen Herrin and Ken Rhodes.
