Obituary

ADA-Services for Edith Faye Thornton McNutt, 84, Ada, are 10:00 a.m. Monday, August 20, 2007, at the Criswell Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. Gene McNutt and Mr. Derrick McNutt will officiate. The committal service will be 4:00 p.m at Beggs Cemetery in Beggs, Oklahoma. The family will receive friends from 3:00 until 5:00 p.m. Sunday at the Criswell Funeral Home.

Mrs. McNutt died Wednesday, August 15, 2007 at a local hospital. She was born March 2, 1923 in Coal County, Oklahoma to A. L. and Betty Hendrix Thornton. She grew up in Greer County and moved to Pharoah, Oklahoma in 1939. She attended high school at Pharoah and played on the women's basketball team. After graduation, she was employed by Southwestern Bell Telephone and Eagle-Picher Mining Company in Henryetta as a clerk typist.

She married Jack McNutt in 1948 in Van Buren, Arkansas. He died in 1978 at Ada. They lived in Stonewall for many years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Ada and was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, serving as Worthy Matron in 1984. She belonged to the Past Matron's Club and also the Mature Fellowship Club. In 1984, she was a member of a group of Pontotoc county Baptists that went to Canada on a mission trip.

Survivors include a son, Jack McNutt and wife Sue, Ada; two grandchildren, Derrick McNutt and wife Karla, Addison, Texas, and Justin McNutt, Ada; sister-in-law, Betty Ruth Long, Newkirk; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Bearers will be Robert Ingram, Johnny Gallagher, Brant Anderson, Dustin Smith, Derrick McNutt, and Justin McNutt.
