EDDIE CAVEL
CONROE, TEXAS-Graveside services for Eddie Joe Cavel, 83, Conroe, Texas, formerly of the Ada area are 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at Rosedale Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Monday at Criswell Funeral Home.
Mr. Cavel died Wednesday, December 28, 2011 at a Conroe assisted living center. He was born December 2, 1928 in St. Louis, Oklahoma to Fredrick (Dick) F. and Alma Martin Cavel. He moved to Spring, Texas on October 19, 2005 from Ada. He graduated from Stonewall High School. He attended the Oklahoma Baptist University Ministry Training Institute in Shawnee.
Mr. Cavel married Kathryn Lavirda Stephens on May 31, 1947 at Union Valley, Oklahoma. She preceded him in death on December 4, 2008. Mr. Cavel was a plant supervisor for Mobil Oil Corp. until his retirement. He was affiliated with the First Baptist Church in Ada, and later the Spring Baptist Church in Spring, Texas. He was a member of the Hereford Twirler Square Dance Club in Ada, and a square dance club in Monahans, Texas.
Survivors include a daughter, Linda Ryan and her husband Danny of Spring, TX; a son, Lonnie Cavel and his wife Karen of Vidor, TX; one sister, Ruth Cavel Johnson and her husband Max of Houston, TX, a brother, Kale Cavel and his wife Pauline of Burleson, TX; three grandchildren, Kimberly Gray, Darin Ryan and Kyle Cavel; and two great grandchildren, Lainey and Kinley Gray.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Kathryn Cavel; a brother, William "Bill" Cavel; and a son, Larry Cavel.
