Obituary

EDD STEVENSON JR.

ADA- Services for Edd Stevenson Jr., 81, Ada, are 2:00 p.m. Monday at Cumberland Presbyterian Church, Revs. Larry Acton and Joe Howry will officiate. Burial will follow at Rosedale Cemetery.

Mr. Stevenson died Saturday, October 27, 2007 at a local hospital. He was born July 15, 1926 at Jesse, Oklahoma, to Edd Adali and Jessie Ellen Oglesby Stevenson. He attended Gerty schools.

He married Billye Jean Brown on May 1, 1947 at Holdenville. She died on October 16, 1986 in Guymon, Oklahoma. He later married Janice Gannon, of Calumet, Oklahoma on September 12, 1988 at Ada, Oklahoma. Mr. Stevenson was drafted by the Army at the age of seventeen and sent to Japan, serving as a Combat Infantryman and a Technician Repairman. He was honorably discharged on November 17, 1946 with many decorations and citations. Some of the honors he received are the Meritorious Unit Award, Good Conduct Medal and the Army of Occupation Medal, Japan. He was employed for many years with Trend Oil and Gas Construction Company as a construction welder, and helped construct some of the largest gasoline plants in America. He is a member of the First United Methodist Church of Calumet.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister; Mildred Whisenhunt Thomas, of Owasso three infant brothers, James Milton, Forrest Edd, and Leonard Hugh; and by four brothers-in-law and a sister-in-law.

Survivors include, his wife, Janice, of the home; two daughters, Bettye Jean Cooper and her husband, Ray, of Eufaula, and Mary Ellen Hinkle and her husband, Roy, of Ada; a son, Stanley Edward "Butch" Stevenson, and his wife, Janet, of Pauls Valley; one step-daughter, Kim Gratner, and her husband, Chuck, of Calumet; grandsons, Stephen and Aaron Cooper, Charles and Todd Carpenter, and Jesse Stevenson; granddaughters, Katie Stevenson, of Pauls Valley and Kara Jean Moon, of Norman; a brother, Jimmy R. Stevenson, and his wife, Demonell, of Ada; a sister, Katherine S. Howry and her husband Jack, of Ada; seven great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Bearers will be Charles Carpenter, Stephen Cooper, Todd Carpenter, Aaron Cooper, Jesse Stevenson and Sam Whisenhunt.
