NORMAN-Services for Earl Dwain McCown, 75, of Norman, formerly of Ada, are 11:00 a.m. Thursday at the Criswell Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. Earl Hood will officiate. Burial will follow at Rosedale Cemetery.
Mr. McCown died Monday, November 18, 2013 at a Norman hospital. He was born February 5, 1938 to Samps and Edith McCown.
He married Eva Olga Leyva on February 16, 1956 in Odessa, Texas. She died September 6, 2007 in Norman. The couple lived most of their 52 years together in Ada, until relocating to Norman in 2005. For over 35 years, Mr. McCown was a second generation commercial brick mason, whose family was well known for their master craftsmanship.
Survivors include three sons, James McCown and wife Dana of Cary, NC, Randall McCown and wife Tammy, Norman, and Rick McCown and wife Susan, Norman; his grandchildren, Chynea Ah You and husband C. J., Norman, Hunter McCown and wife Marsee, Ardmore, Dillon and Belle McCown of Norman, Aubrey Land and husband Brenton, Cary, NC, and Taylor McCown, Cary, NC; his great granddaughters, Makiah and Atiana Ah You, Norman; his great grandson, Kellen of Ardmore; and another great-grandchild on the way.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Eva Olga McCown; and a son, Dwain McCown, Jr. at the age of 2.
Bearers will be Bill Bolin, C. J. Ah You, Gayland Stubblefield, Taylor McCown, Hunter McCown and Dillon McCown. Honorary bearers will be J. B. Bolin, William McCown, Samps McCown and Curtis Stubblefield.
