DR. E. STANLEY BERGER
TULSA-Services for Dr. E. Stanley Berger, 95, of Tulsa, formerly of Ada, are 10:00 a.m. Friday at St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Ada, Rev. John D. Norvell will officiate. Burial will follow at Swan Hill Cemetery in Ada.
Dr. Berger died Monday, February 11, 2013 at a Tulsa hospital. He was born May 24, 1917 at Grand Junction, Colorado to Samuel Robert and Pearl Miller Berger. He attended Grand Junction schools and graduated from high school in Grand Junction.
He received a degree in Bio-Chemistry from the University of Colorado and a Master's Degree from the University of Oklahoma in Bio-Chemistry. He graduated from the University of Oklahoma Medical School in 1944.
He married Estelle Hicks on March 19, 1944. She preceded him in death on March 1, 2005. He enlisted in the U. S. Army in July, 1945 during World War II and was discharged November 1945. He moved to Lawton where he was a Pediatrician. Dr. Berger was called into active duty in 1952 during the Korean War and was stationed in Puerto Rico and was discharged in 1954. After his discharge, he attended the University of Oklahoma and did his residency in internal medicine. Dr. Berger had a medical practice in Oklahoma City at St. Anthony's Hospital for about 30 years until his retirement. He and his wife moved to Ada in 1999. He moved to Tulsa in September, 2011. Dr. Berger was a member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Ada.
Survivors include two daughters, Dr. Sally Berger of Ada, and Julie Freid of Tulsa; two granddaughters, Audrey Freid and her husband Adam Tao, and Sarah Berger; and a great grandchild, Bailey Berger.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and a son, Robert Berger in 1999.
