Doug Davis

Services for Doug Davis are 10:00 a.m.  Monday, December 7, 2020 at First Baptist Church, Revs. Harold Ware and Jerry Wells will officiate. Burial will follow at Resthaven Cemetery in Shawnee.

Douglas Allan Davis, 63, passed away peacefully at home in Ada on Tuesday, December 1, 2020.

Doug was born January 23, 1957 in Wichita, KS to Bill and Phyllis (Moore) Davis.

Soon after graduating from Ada High School in 1975, Doug joined the National Guard and left for Basic Training in Ft. Leonard Wood, MO. While his hopes of getting to serve his country in action was never realized, he was very proud of the eight years he spent in the Oklahoma National Guard.

On June 2, 1977, Doug married the love of his life, Paula Diane Hatcher at Fellowship Baptist Church in Ada.

In 1984, Doug moved his family to Okmulgee, OK where he attended the Graphic Design program at OSU Tech. He spent the next nine years working as a graphic artist in newspapers across Oklahoma, Kansas, and Missouri. In the mid-nineties, a career change put him in the classroom teaching technology to middle school and high school students; a job he truly enjoyed.

In 2001, Doug and Diane decided that they wanted to return home to Ada. He worked for the Ada Evening News until 2003, at which time he went to work for Pre-Paid Legal. He spent the next 11 years as a graphic designer there until health issues forced him to retire.

Throughout his life, Doug's gift for drawing was a source of enjoyment for not only him, but also those who were lucky enough to be a recipient of his gift.

Doug was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Phyllis Davis, son-in-law, Marco Alvarez, and father-in-law, Paul Hatcher.

While we mourn the loss of such an incredible man far too early, he will be remembered, missed, and loved for years to come by those who knew and loved him most: His loving and faithful wife of 43 years, Diane Davis of the home, sons Eric Davis of Tecumseh, OK and Michael Davis and wife Liz of Pauls Valley, OK, and daughter Leah Worcester and husband Bo of Pickett, OK. HIs five greatest sources of joy and the loves of his life are his grandchildren: Eli Alvarez, Olivia Alvarez, Adrian Alvarez, and twins Allie and Isabel Worcester, all of Pickett.

He is also survived by his brother Dennis Davis and fiancé Renee of Richmond, TX, sister Darla Lee and husband Ken of Martinsburg, WV, aunt Yvonne Oliver of Shawnee, OK, mother-in-law Yvonne Hatcher, as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

The family would also like to send our sincerest thanks to Fresenius Kidney Care of Ada for their eight years of incredible care in taking care of Doug.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Kidney Fund.
