DOROTHY MARCUM

AUSTIN, TEXAS-Graveside services for Dorothy Claudene Marcum, 90, Austin, TX, formerly of Ada, are 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Rosedale. The family will receive friends from 8:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. Saturday at Criswell Funeral Home.

Mrs. Marcum died Wednesday, January 16, 2008 at her home in Austin, Texas. She was born May 28, 1917 in Cairo, Oklahoma to Claude and Elizabeth Hayhurst Marcum. She graduated from Capitol Hill High School.

She married Marvin Andrew Moats on January 1, 1935 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He preceded her in death in 1954. She later married James Topliff in 1958. Mrs. Marcum worked as a homemaker and an oil and gas owner. She was President of the Westward Ho Garden Club, was an Eastern Star at Ridglea, and she was the first Mother Advisor for the Rainbow Girls of Ridglea. She was also active on the Southwest Ft. Worth Board of Ballet and a member of the American Business Women's Association. She was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include two daughters, Marla Schmid and her husband Joachim, Austin, TX, and Judith Menzel, Round Rock, TX; a brother, Denver Delton Marcum, Tolar, TX; grandchildren, Joachim Marc Schmid and his wife Blair Walker, Austin, TX, John Weldon Gilchrist, Kona, HI, and Stacey Hutcherson and her husband Ray, Hutto, TX; and great grandchildren, Taylor and Holden Hutcherson.

She was preceded in death by granddaughters, Stephanie Margot Schmid and Lisa Shawn Gilchrist; a sister, Betty Jo Marcum; and a brother, Gordon Marcum, Sr.
