Obituary

Dorothy Hatch

Dorthy Mae Hatch, 97, of Roff, Oklahoma, passed away at her home on November 5, 2026. She was born on November 4, 1929, to Walter Nelson and Goldie Henry.

Dorthy married Robert “Bob” Hatch on January 18, 1957. In 1959, they moved from Colorado to Roff, where they purchased a ranch and spent their lives raising and caring for cattle. Ranching was more than work to Dorthy; it was what kept her going every day. If you were looking for her, chances were you could find her cruising around in her ATV, going approximately 20 miles under the speed limit, tending to her cattle, or finding something that needed doing—and occasionally getting into something she probably ought to have left alone. She cared for her cows with unwavering dedication, often putting their needs before her own.

A pillar of her community, Dorthy was known for her strength, determination, and remarkable work ethic. Those who knew her would tell you she was the hardest worker you could ever meet, often able to outwork a whole group of men. She took pride in a hard day’s work, her cattle and the ranch she and Bob built together remained at the center of her life.

To her grandchildren, she was known as “Nana.”

Dorthy was preceded in death by her husband, Robert “Bob” Hatch, and her parents, Walter Nelson and Goldie Henry.

She is survived by her daughters, Tama Hatch-Pope and her husband, James Pope, and Sherry Hatch Meeks and her husband, Billy Meeks; her grandchildren, Robert Remington Hatch-Pope, Emerson Hatch-Pope, Shasta West, and Tracy Meeks Page; and her great-grandchildren, Berkeley Ashcraft, Kove Hatch-Pope, Ally Jo Page, Caden Page, Declan Page, and Evey Page.

The family extends a special thank-you to her son-in-law, James Pope, for his care and support during Dorthy’s final days. From tending to her needs to handling the countless details, James was there for her when she needed him most. His kindness and dedication will always be remembered with gratitude.

Dorthy leaves behind a legacy of hard work, independence, and determination. She will be remembered for her unmistakable spirit, her dedication to her cattle, and a work ethic that few could match.

Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, November 9, 2026, at Hatch Family Cemetery in Roff, Oklahoma, with Tony Peak officiating.
