Doris Benefiel
Texas-Services for Doris Wynona Benefiel, 83, of Round Rock, Texas, formerly of Ada, are 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at the Oak Avenue Seventh Day Adventist Church, Elder Bruce James officiating. Burial will follow at Swan Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Benefiel ended her long life's journey on Tuesday, September 8, 2015, passing peacefully while vacationing with family in the Bighorn Mountains of Wyoming. She was born June 18, 1932 in Ada to Guy and Arie Tharp Binkley. She graduated from Byng Schools, received her Bachelor's Degree from Oklahoma State University and her Master's Degree from East Central University.
She came back to Ada in 1982 where she taught special education at Byng School retiring in 1992. She was a teacher for 25 years. Mrs. Benefiel was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church of Ada, which her father built. She was a former member of the Laureate Eta branch of the Beta Sigma Phi sorority in Ada. She enjoyed water aerobics, reading, traveling and spending time with family.
She married Leighton Roberts in 1953 and Melvin Benefiel in 1972. He preceded her in death by her parents and both husbands.
Survivors include two sons, Marquis Roberts of Luther and Edward Roberts of Ponca City; two daughters Valerie Roberts of Round Rock, Texas and Sandra Ramsey of Houston, Texas; four grandchildren, Jeff Ensminger of Dale, Texas, Amy Ensminger of Enid, Adam Ramsey and Aaron Ramsey of Houston, Texas.
