DORIS BARRICK
Ada – Doris Mae Barrick, 84, of Ada, passed away at Brookdale Senior Living Home on May 8, 2020. She was born on September 21, 1935 in Fairland, Oklahoma to Ralph and Bessie (Richards) Bobbitt.
Doris attended high school in Fairland, Oklahoma graduating in 1953. She was on the yearbook staff, participated in Glee Club, and was in the state honor society. Doris also attended Ozark Bible College in Joplin, MO from 1954 to 1956 when she held the title of Junior Class Secretary.
Mrs. Barrick married Charles Ray Barrick on August 11, 1956 in Fairland, Oklahoma. Doris and her family moved to Ada in 1971 when her husband Charles accepted a faculty position at East Central University where he taught until his retirement in 1999. Doris worked for Oklahoma Cooperative Extension Service of Oklahoma State University as an Administrative Assistant from 1982 to 2003 with a career of 21 years. Previous employment included a position at McCormick-Armstrong Company in Wichita, Kansas from October 1956 to August 1959 and a position with Prudential Insurance Company in Kansas City, Missouri from September 1959 to November 1967.
Mrs. Barrick loved to volunteer at her church and taught children's Sunday morning Bible classes for 20+ years. In addition, she supported her husband, Charles, in his role as a church elder for almost 20 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and brothers Marvin Bobbitt and Dean Bobbitt.
Survivors include her son Damon Barrick and wife Gayla of Ponca City, Oklahoma; daughter Laura (Barrick) Doner and husband Troy of Konawa, Oklahoma; son Timothy Barrick and wife Michelle of Allen, Texas; grandchildren Kyle, Gage, and Riley Barrick, Kase and Kohl Doner, Melissa and Daniel Barrick.
A private graveside service, officiated by Bud Ross, will be held on Tuesday, May 12th at Rosedale Cemetery.
