Maxine Calhoun

Services for Dora Maxine Calhoun, 88, of Ada, are 11:00 a.m. Thursday at the 32 ^nd Street Church of Christ, Roy Deering will officiate.  Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.

Mrs. Calhoun died Monday, November 7, 2016 at a local nursing home. She was born April 2, 1928 in Ravia, OK to James Milburn and Anna Atchley Wallis.  She moved back to Ada from California in 1964.

She married Earl James Smith in 1945 and he preceded her in death in November 1960. She married James Calhoun on September 17, 1965 in Wichita Falls, TX. Mrs. Calhoun was a nurse's aide and retired as custodian from Byng School, after 16 years of service.  She was a member of  the Galey Church of Christ.

Survivors include her husband Jim Calhoun; two sons, Ronald and wife Darlene Smith of Ada and Michael Glen Smith of Newport, AR; one step-son Charles Duane Calhoun and wife Judy of Oklahoma City; one sister, Bobbie Rue of Oklahoma City; eight grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a daughter Elaine Courtright in 2012.

Bearers will be Jeremy Humphers, Jacob Humphers, Nathan Smith, Jordan Smith, Jayden Mills and Dennis Kymes. Honorary bearers will be Steve Littleton, Michael Mills, Nathan Miller and Thomas Blevins.
