Don Birdwell

Services for Donald Henry Birdwell, 74, of Ada are at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Rollow Chapel of the First United Methodist Church. Rev. Brian Matthews will officiate.

Mr. Birdwell passed away Tuesday, January 22, 2019 at his home. He was born in Beaumont, Texas February 19, 1944 to Link Delmar and Ilda Elsia (Fischer) Birdwell.

Don grew up in Nederland, Texas, and joined the Army in 1961 and was stationed in Germany until 1964.

In his early career, he was a ships electrician at the Port of Beaumont, an industrial electrical technician in the food manufacturing industry in Dallas, Texas. And later he became assistant director of electrical engineering for prominent Dallas area hospitals until his retirement.

He loved science and technology, and science fiction. He was a loving husband and father. He was generous to a fault with his family, friends, and anyone in need.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Gerald, and two sisters, Lucille Hilton and JoAnn Gross.

He is survived by wife Donna of the home, daughter and son-in-law, Shelley and Doug Chenot of Asher, and brother, Vernon Birdwell and wife Nancy of Dallas.
