An informal celebration of life for Dixie Jean Wheaton, 84, of Mounds, formerly of Stonewall, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 22, 2024 at the Stonewall First Baptist Church Fellowship Hall, Sheila Chastain and Debbie Bacon will officiate.  A private family burial will be held later at Highland Cemetery.

Mrs. Wheaton died Wednesday, July 17, 2024 at her home.  She was born July 17, 1940 in Ada, Oklahoma to Dick and Juanita Underhill Truitt. She graduated from Stonewall High School in 1957.

She married Lee R. Wheaton on August 18, 1961. Mrs. Wheaton received her Bachlor and Master's Degree from East Central University. She taught school in Kansas and Tulsa, retiring after 30 years.

Survivors include her husband, Lee of home; daughter, Deena Wheaton of Mounds, OK; brother, Richard Truitt and wife Jeanette, of Stonewall, OK.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
