DEMPSEY BYRD
ADA-Services for Dempsey Dean Byrd, 72, Ada, are 2:00 P.M. Saturday, September 15, 2007, at Calvary Pentecostal Holiness Church, Revs. Frank Trent and Marty Gustin officiating. Burial follows at Swan Hill Cemetery.
Mr. Byrd died on Wednesday, September 12, 2007. He was born February 9, 1935, near Frisco to R. A. "Bud" and Samuel Jane Johnson Byrd. He attended school at Pleasant Hill. He was a farm hand for Johnnie Boring. Mr. Byrd enjoyed fishing, attending car races and ballgames, picking up pecans and picking up cans. He was a member of Calvary Pentecostal Holiness Church.
Survivors include three brothers, Richard Byrd and his wife Mary Jane, Ada; Roger Byrd and his wife Joni, Ada; and Charles Byrd and his wife Denise, Ada; four sisters, Wanda Colvin and her husband Jim, San Angelo, Texas; Mary Ward, Ada; Betty Newby, Ada; and Dorothy Shackleford and her husband Mike, Ada; and a large number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a nephew, Richie Shelton.
Bearers are Charlie Byrd, Chase Byrd, Shane Sutton, Tyler Sadler, Charlie Forehand and Todd Ray. Honorary bearers are Johnnie Boring, Jerry Duncan, Brian Baxley , Mike Shackleford, Randy Colvin, Sammy Joe Colvin, Steve Colvin, Peter Byrd, Blake Shelton, Danny Davis, Mike Cathey, Colton Byrd, Eddie Sadler and Tim West.
