DALLAS, TX-Services for Dean Samuel Walker, 75, of Dallas, TX, formerly of Ada, are 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Criswell Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. Hazel Wallace and Rev. Belle Harjo will officiate. Burial will follow at Johnson Cemetery. The Chickasaw Honor Guard will conduct military honors at the cemetery. A Wake Service will be 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. Monday at Criswell Funeral Home.
Mr. Walker died Thursday, February 16, 2012 at a local nursing home. He was born March 10, 1936 in Pontotoc County, Oklahoma to John and Celia Johnson Walker. He attended Goodland schools and an auto body trade school in Oklahoma City. Mr. Walker was employed with U-Haul Transport until his retirement. He served in the U. S. Army during the Korean War.
Survivors include his daughter, Dana Varo of Oklahoma City; a son, Phillip Walker of Oklahoma City; his sisters, Louise Marrs, Connerville, Charlene Vazquez, Ada, Norma Ruth Johnson, Oklahoma City, Irene Banks, Ada, Dolores Alexander, Midwest City, Darlene Meeks and her husband Raymond, Cyril, and Viola Jim, Shawnee; a brother, Bill Alexander and his wife Lillian, Amber; five grandchildren, Rebecca, Morgan, Nicholas, Thomas and Mitchell Walker, all of Oklahoma City; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Celia Johnson Walker; a daughter, Connie Walker; two brothers, Jimmy Walker and Edwin Alexander; and a sister, Wanda Alexander.
Bearers will be, Rick Walker, Ronald Walker, Dennis Walker, Michael Markum, Eugene Marrs Jr., and Bill Alexander. Honorary bearers will be Melvin Alexander, Herman Walker, Wordley Walker and Marvin Alexander.
