WAYNE GRAY
ALLEN-Services for David Wayne Gray, 72, Allen, are 10:00 a.m. Thursday at the First Free Will Baptist Church in Ada, Rev. Charles Dean will officiate. Burial will follow at the Allen Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at Criswell Funeral Home.
Mr. Gray died Tuesday, June 9, 2009 at a local hospital. He was born June 18, 1936 at Allen, Oklahoma to Johnthan David and Bertha Alice Kerr Gray. He lived in this area all his life and graduated from Allen High School in 1954. He attended Murray State College in Tishomingo and graduated with a bachelor's degree in Vocational Agriculture from Oklahoma A & M. Mr. Gray taught from 1958 until retiring in 1987. He began his teaching career at Atwood, and also taught at Moss and Latta, before retiring from Byng School as the Director of Vocational Programs.
He married Glenda L. David Coleman on March 9, 1985. Mr. Gray served on the Pontotoc County Soil Conservation District for many years and the Pontotoc County Career Tech Board for three terms. He was a member of the Pontotoc County Retired Teachers Association.
Survivors include his wife, Glenda L. Gray, of the home; his children, Dava Beck and husband Gail, Amarillo, TX, Debbie Elkouri and husband Paul, Washington, OK, Duane Gray and wife Dawn, Allen, Dena Gray, Allen, and Deresa Gray, Ada; his step-children, Brian Coleman, Norman, and Keri Coleman Prince, Ada; one brother, Bobby Gray and wife Jane, Allen; a sister, Linda Knickmeyer, Ada; eight grandchildren, Robert Stradford and wife Traci, Shannon Stradford, Shaff Elkouri and wife Laura, Chelsie Cannon and husband Nick, Meleaia Gray, Raetchel Gray, Gabrielle and Jacob Coleman and Coleman Prince; four great grandchildren; and many nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, David and Bertha Gray, and a sister, June Kile.
Bearers will be Ricky Eaton, Tommy Eaton, Ronnie Eaton, Jason Gray, Kevin Gray, and Robert Gray.
