A memorial service for David Lee Burris, 78, of Wayne, will be 12:00 PM Saturday, January 13, 2024 at the Chickasaw Community Center.

Mr. Burris passed away Monday, January 1, 2024 at OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City.  He was born March 3, 1945 in Talihina, OK to Mose B. Burris and Willie Dosie Stick Burris.

He served in the United States Army and was a Veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a proud member of the Chickasaw Nation and proud of his Choctaw roots too. Mr. Burris was a truck driver until his retirement.

He is survived by his children, Camille Wright (Newcastle, OK), Dustin Burris, Scott Burris (Guthrie, OK) and wife Linda, Darcy Palumbo (Oklahoma City, OK) and husband Nathan Palumbo, Chase Hackle, Chad Shed (Tuttle, OK), and Checotah Burris (Wayne, OK); one sister, Lonie Burris of Ada; and five grandchildren, Marissa Yeaman, Mallory Yockel, Brook Martin, Taylor Shed, and Gianna Palumbo.

Mr. Burris was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Carolyn, of 25 years; one son, Trevor Burris; and his siblings, Doris Grace, Winnie Mae, Sebena Charlotte, Neather Mozella, Gabriel Oshway, Elton Hoyt, Edwin Neil, Mose Burris, Jr., Wisdom Leeallen, and Mary Francis Cochran.
