DALE FAIRCHILD
ROFF-Services for Dale Fairchild, 90, of Roff, are 10:00 a.m. Thursday at the Roff First Baptist Church, Rev. Tony Folger will officiate. Burial will follow at East Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at Criswell Funeral Home.
Mr. Fairchild died Sunday, January 22, 2012. He was born August 29, 1921 in Dolberg, Oklahoma to J. L. and Cora Erwin Fairchild. He and his family moved to the Roff area in 1925. He attended Roff schools and graduated from Roff High School in 1938.
He married Odema Chole Fowler on May15, 1948 in Ada. She preceded him in death on November 29, 1994. Mr. Fairchild enlisted in the U. S. Army Air Corps in 1942 and served in Europe during World War II. He rose to the rank of Sergeant and played a critical role in the conversion of a Luftwaffe Air Depot near the Dachau Prison Camp into a facility to serve the European Air Force. He was honorably discharged from the Army Air Corp. on February 15, 1946. He then returned to Roff and went to work in the family grocery store, Fairchild Grocery for the next 60 years. He loved the town of Roff and counted his many customers as friends. He was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include two sons, Mike Fairchild of Richardson, Texas and Patrick Fairchild and his wife Cindy of Edmond, OK; his grandchildren, Courtney Fairchild of Brooklyn, New York , and Nathan Fairchild of Edmond, OK.
He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents, J. L. and Cora Fairchild; his brother, J. L. "Sport" Fairchild; and a sister, Hazel Fairchild Bullock.
Bearers will be Don Hoover, Charles R. Brown, Steven Crawford, Jack Lambert, Alan Larsh, and Bubba Tidwell. Honorary bearer will be Nathan Fairchild
