Obituary

Dale Cox

Services for Dale Allen Cox will be at 1:00 PM Wednesday April 15, 2026, at the Byng First Free Will Baptist Church, Pastor Roger Arter and Reverend Jamie Perry will officiate the service. Dale will be buried at Highland Cemetery in Stonewall.

Dale was born April 3, 1951, in Elk City, OK to Bobby and Laquita Cox. He graduated from Stonewall High School in May 1969. He never missed a single day of school from first grade through his senior year; he was always proud of that. He then went on to attend ECU obtaining a bachelor degree in business management.

Dale married Pat Schornick on May 21, 1969, in Ada, OK. One of Dale’s best friends Skip Davis showed him Pat’s picture in the yearbook and that he should ask her out. Dale was not normally shy except for when it came to girls, and he told him no that she was to pretty for him. As lots of kids did in those days Skip and Dale were dragging Main Street and saw Pat. Skip had Pat pull over and introduced them. Pat said when she saw Dale through the window and talked to him, she thought he was really cute and loved his personality! She knew then he was the one and the rest was history! 55 years later he is still her first and only love! They had three sons, Jason, Tyler, and Matt.

Dale worked as a package boy for Dicus Supermarkets while going to college. After graduating he quickly worked his way up and managed stores for Dicus Supermarkets. In 1974, Dale purchased Snow’s grocery in Stonewall, which became Cox’s Grocery. 10 years later he sold the store and went back to manage a store for Dicus. In 1995 he went to work in sales for Pepsi in Ada and officially retired in 2010.

That personality that attracted Pat to him made him a favorite with all his customers. His knowledge of the grocery business and extremely good work ethic made him a favorite with all his employees.

Dale was a great man. He was the best Daddy three boys could ever have. He loved and supported them in everything they did. He was the love of Pat’s life as she was his, but he loved his Savior even more. He was a good, good Christian man.

Dale was the sweetest most precious husband anyone could have. Papaw to not only his girls, but also his great grandson Dallen James or “Hey Papaw” as Dallen named him.

Dale is survived by wife, Pat of the home, son, Jason of Fittstown, son, Tyler and wife Sheree of Jesse, son, Matt and wife Krista of Konawa, granddaughter, Preslee Cox and Zayne Wilkerson; great grandson, Dallen Wilkerson of Stonewall, and granddaughter, Tayler Cox and Talyon D’Aguanno of Tupelo. He is preceded in death by his parents, Bobby and Laquita Cox and brother, Larry Cox.

As Dale would say “well there you go”.
