CORRENE HOLBROOK
ADA-Services for Correne Pedersen Holbrook, 92, Ada, are 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Center Free Will Baptist Church, Revs. Randy McCown and Earl Hood will officiate. Burial will follow at Lightning Ridge Cemetery.
Mrs. Holbrook died Monday, January 12, 2009 at a Midwest City nursing home. She was born September 30, 1916 at Byars, Oklahoma to Joseph Gray and Laura Belle Neal Bennett. She attended McClain County and Vanoss schools.
She married Chris M. Pedersen on October 19, 1935. He preceded her in death in November, 1957. She later married Joseph Franklin Holbrook on May 23, 1988. He died November 19, 1999. Mrs. Holbrook was a homemaker and employed in the Vanoss school cafeteria for several years. She was affiliated with the Vanoss Extension Homemakers Club for over 70 years, and a longtime member of the Lightning Ridge Baptist Church.
Survivors include seven sons, John Pedersen, Chambersburg, PA, Richard Pedersen and wife Brenda, Cooper, TX, Paul Pedersen and wife Margaret, Luther, OK, Jimmie Pedersen and wife Kathy, Arlington, TX, Charles Pedersen and wife Beverly, Luther, OK, Mike Pedersen and wife Cindy, Jones, OK, and Steve Pedersen, San Diego, CA; six daughters, Bobbie Gentry and husband Dale, Stratford, Helen Watson, Del City, Sherrie Wick and husband Bob, Pleasanton, CA, Shelia Brown and husband Bill, Leawood, KS, Sonja Cluck and husband Larry, McAlester, OK, and Laura Cothren and husband Wayne, Vanoss, OK; a sister, Judy Crawley, Sulphur, OK; 46 grandchildren; and 62 great grandchildren; and 31 great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, Chris Pedersen and Frank Holbrook, a son, Carroll Pedersen, grandson, David Gentry, son-in-law, Don Watson, and a daughter-in-law, Mae Pedersen.
Bearers will be Mack Summers, Fred Bowerman, George Welch, Jack Martin, George Myrick, and Bryan Taylor. Honorary bearers will be her grandsons.
The family requests those who wish may make memorials to the Correne Pedersen Scholarship at Vanoss School, 4665 CR 1555, Ada, OK 74820.
