Coeta "Jo" Layne

Coeta "Jo" Layne passed away Monday April 12 ^th , 2021 in Ada, OK at the age of 87.  She was born July 27, 1933 in Stratford, OK to Forrest Eathel Burrows and Julia Ann (Decker) Burrows.

Jo grew up in Stratford, OK with her dad, mom and siblings.  She married Thomas Robert (Buck) Layne on August 2 ^nd , 1950 in Clarksville, Arkansas and they raised 4 children.  Throughout her life, she was a homemaker, road construction and heavy machine operator, bookkeeper for the family auto repair business, and worked in rehabilitation services.  She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who always put her family's needs before her own.  Jo had a remarkable ability to balance "grit" and compassion. Life threw her many challenges and no matter how difficult the headwinds, she weathered the storm. Even in the middle of some of the worst storms she encountered, she could never pass up a stray animal in need without setting out food and water to aid them along their way. She enjoyed spending time with family, camping, fishing, crocheting, crossword puzzles, and loved being outdoors (always ready for a road trip).  She was an excellent cook and enjoyed preparing meals for her family, especially on holidays.  Later in life, she enjoyed visits from her family and grandkids and loved sharing stories of her childhood on the farm with her dad.

Survivors include her daughter, Linda Duncan and husband Jason of Ada; a son, Scott Layne and wife Paulette of Wetumka; a son, Michael Layne and wife Marsha of Stratford; 10 grandchildren, Cathy Rhyner, Melissa Heinzman, Justin McDaniel, Valerie Farr, Nina Blair, Christopher Layne, Elizabeth Samples, Samuel Layne, Robert Layne, Julia Layne, and many great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Forrest and Julia Burrows, husband Thomas Robert "Buck" Layne, son Robert Lee "Bob" Layne, a grandson, Matthew Layne, a sister Oleta Davis and 2 brothers, LeRoy and William E. Burrows.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00am on April 27 ^th , 2021 at Harmony Free Will Baptist Church, 224 SE County Road, Ada, OK.
