September 6, 1926 – December 27, 2021
Services for Cloreta Gray, 95, will be at 2:00, Thursday, December 30, 2021, at Oil Center Pentecostal Holiness Church. Reverend Toby Willoughby officiating. Burial will follow at Old McGee Cemetery, Stratford, Oklahoma. The family will receive friends Wednesday, December 29 from 5:00-7:00 at Criswell Funeral Home.
Ms. Gray died Monday December 27 th at her daughters home in Moore, Oklahoma. She was born September 6, 1926 in Maxwell, Oklahoma near Ada to Willie and Florence Wood Isaacs.
She attended Vanoss High School. On June 27, 1943 she married Vernon Edward Gray in Garvin County, Oklahoma. They had 60 wonderful years before he passed away in 2003.
Cloreta started college at East Central University and attained a B.S. degree in Education in 1968. She taught 4 th grade and several years as a 2 nd grade teacher which she loved at Pickett Center Elementary School. Vernon was a welder and also a farmer, rancher and ran a dairy for a number of years and Cloreta worked side by side with him. In 1987 she retired from teaching and went home to care for Vernon.
She was a member of the Oil Center Pentecostal Holiness Church for more than 60 years. She served as Secretary and President of the Women's Auxiliary and taught many young people in Sunday School. In 1972 she was Named Woman of the year at the East Oklahoma Conference of the Women's Auxiliary, Pentecostal Holiness Church at the Tiger Mountain Youth Camp.
Survivors include three sons, Steven Gray, wife Nova and Mike Gray of Oil Center; Rodney Gray, wife Janice of Norman, Oklahoma and one daughter, Vickie Cartwright, husband Bill of Moore, Oklahoma. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren, and 15 great great grandchildren. She is survived by one sister, Doris Dwade Patton and husband JA Patton and numerous other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her husband, father, mother, two brothers, and one sister.
Bearers will be grandsons and grandsons-in-law, Clark Edward Gray, Mark Ray Gray, and Ryan Gray, Jeff Elliott, Jeremy Paden and Jordon Lawalin.
The family request masks be worn at the service.
