CLINT STURDEVANT
ADA-Services for Clinton "Clint" Sturdevant, Jr., 84, of Ada, are 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Criswell Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. Joe Dixon will officiate. Burial will follow at Rosedale Cemetery.
Mr. Sturdevant died Sunday, March 24, 2013 at a local nursing home. He was born May 29, 1928 in Ada, Oklahoma to Clinton and Leota Elizabeth Gaar Sturdevant. He attended Ada schools and graduated from Horace Mann High School.
He married Betty Jean Hiller on March 29, 1947. She preceded him in death on September 12, 2003. Mr. Sturdevant was employed with the U. S. Postal Service until his retirement and had also worked at the Ada News as the Circulation Manager. He was a member of the Oak Avenue Baptist Church, and had served on the Ada City Council for 10 years from 1980 until 1990, and served as Mayor for one year. He also served on the Ada City Planning Committee.
Survivors include two sons, Bill Sturdevant of Ada, and Clinton Sturdevant III and his wife Paula of Ada; four grandchildren, Lea Robinson of Ada, Clinton Sturdevant IV of Oklahoma City, Rachelle Sturdevant of Nashville, TN, and Drew Sturdevant, of Little Rock, AR; two great grandchildren, Lindi Robinson and Kaden Lavielle, both of Ada; one sister, Sammie Olkinetzky of Norman; an aunt, Juanita Kelly of Marysville, California; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, James Sturdevant; and a daughter-in-law, Jan Sturdevant.
Bearers will be Clint Sturdevant IV, Drew Sturdevant, Jov Olkinetzky, Wayne Biggs, Scott Poe, and Jack Wilkerson. Honorary bearers will be Bob Langley, Doug Whitaker, Leonard Morgan, Renfro Scarber and Bill McElhaney.
