CLEMATEEN WILLIAMSON
ADA-Services for Clemateen Mozena Williamson, 91, of Ada are 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 725 N. Division Street in Konawa. Burial will follow at Grayson Cemetery near Konawa. A Wake Service will be held 7:00 p.m. Friday at Reaper Baptist Church, 3301 N. Broadway in Ada.
Mrs. Williamson died Saturday, January 11, 2014 at her home. She was born October 13, 1922 near Konawa, Oklahoma to Hiram Abiff Ransom, Sr. and Lena Franklin Ransom. She attended Grayson School in Konawa where she played on the girls basketball team and later received her G. E. D. from Napier School in Ada.
Mrs. Williamson was employed for many years as a housekeeper for the Streetman family of Konawa, as well as the Spann, Howard, and Smith families of Ada. She later retired from KTEN television station. Mrs. Williamson accepted Christ at an early age at Bethlehem Baptist Church in Konawa. Later she served at St. Joseph Baptist Church of Wewoka, Philemon Missionary Baptist Church and Reaper Missionary Baptist Church both in Ada. While a member of Philemon Missionary Baptist Church, she served as a Missionary Society Member, Choir Member, Children's Sunday School Teacher and Director of the Royal Ambassadors Boys Auxiliary. As a member of Reaper Missionary Baptist Church, she taught Adult Women's Sunday School Class, served as a Deaconess and prepared the Lord's Supper.
The State of Oklahoma honored Mrs. Williamson as a distinguished and outstanding volunteer in the State for her contributions to the community. The Retired Senior Volunteer Program of the United States of America recognized her for support with the local Retired Senior Volunteer Program. The Ada Retirement and Care Center presented her the "Volunteers Brighten Lives Certificate of Appreciation" in recognition of her help to their residents.
The Ransom Family Reunion Committee presented an award to Mrs. Williamson for being the oldest living Ransom child and the Bethlehem Church of Konawa honored her for dedication and service. Mrs. Williamson was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, the NAACP, and the African American Heritage Committee.
Survivors include her two sons, James Clifton Williamson, Jr and wife Suzette Tillman Williamson of Sacramento, CA, and Alvin Dean Williamson of Dallas, TX; two daughters, Patricia Ann Hicks of Dallas, TX, and Dr. Vivian Whitney and her husband Rev. Walter Whitney of Ada; a God-son, Bobby Lewis, Perkins, OK; 8 granddaughters, Cindy Yearby, Dallas, TX, Jacquelyn Williamson, Sacramento, CA, Denise Warner, Norcross, GA, Dr. Ashanti Turner, Cedar Hill, TX, LaShune Rushing, Dallas, TX, Hope Williamson, Desoto, TX, Akilah Johnson, Ada, and Aisha Johnson, Houston, TX; 3 grandsons, R. C. McKinney, Dallas, TX, Kelvin Williamson, Dallas, TX and Broyce Williamson, Paris, TX; 14 great grandchildren, Kamesha Robinson, Shatora Robinson, Shatora Rushing, Ta'Tiana Johnson, Mercedes McKinney, Jazmyn Adams, Rodney Woods, Deonté Johnson, Michael Davis, Jr., Kithony Nichols, Jade (BG) Whitemon, Frank Pyrtle IV, Calea Turner and Larry Turner II; and 4 great great grandchildren, Kamari Robinson, London Jackson, Zavier Robinson, and Caiden Pratt; sisters, Faye Owns and Lola Robinson; brothers, Hiram Ransom, Jr., Clifford Ransom, Sr. and Howard Ransom; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by parents; sister, Electra Anderson, brothers, Therris Lloyd Ransom, George Warren Ransom, Therman Jacob Ransom, Sam Archie Lee Ransom and Clifton Ransom; her husbands, J. C. Williamson and Willie Gray; sons, Ben Don Williamson and Weldon Aaron Gray; and a grandson, James C. Williamson, III.
