CLARENCE ARTER
ADA-Services for Clarence Mason Arter, 86, Ada, are 2:00 p.m. Monday at the Criswell Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. Rodger Arter will officiate. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mr. Arter died Thursday, December 11, 2008 at an Ardmore hospital. He was born December 3, 1922 at Oilton, Oklahoma to Mason and Dolly Bethurem Arter. He attended Vanoss schools.
He married Louise Vina Estes on April 14, 1942. She preceded him in death on January 25, 2002 at Ada. Mr. Arter retired as a Packer at Ideal Cement where he worked from 1946 until 1984. He was a member of the First Free Will Baptist Church and served in the U. S. Army during World War II in the 349th Infantry Company L.
Survivors include a son, Rev. Rodger Arter and wife Joyce, Fitzhugh; a daughter, Jequeta Keithley and husband Paul, Ada; three grandchildren, Tammy Klett, Hurst, TX, Amy Turner, Hurst, TX, and Jenny Graham, Lewisville, TX; and five great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and six brothers, Remus Arter, Ray Arter, Alvin Arter, Otto Arter, Luther Arter, and Claude Arter.
Bearers will be Benny Shumard, Ray McQuiston, Ron Shumard, Paul Keithley, Bob Hatter, and Brian Whitehead.
