Clara Cathey

Services for Clara Faye Cathey, 87 years old are 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 4, 2021 at Criswell Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. Steve Wilburn will officiate. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Wapanucka. Family and friends may call at Criswell Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. Thursday, June 3, 2021.  She died at home with dignity and grace, surrounded by her family on 05/31/2021. She was born July 25, 1933, in Pleasant Hill, Oklahoma to Charlie Smith and Lila Mae Smith.

Clara graduated from McAlester High School, Class of 1951. Following high school she began working at Woolworth Department Store, where she was over the make-up counter until 1954. Clara married Thad J Cathey on June 15, 1954 in McAlester, Oklahoma. They relocated to Oklahoma City in 1958. Clara was a homemaker for her family, she also babysat 64 children, in her home, over the years. She enjoyed her rose bushes and flowers. She loved watching and hearing the redbirds outside her home.

Clara and Thad had 3 children. Rhonda Wynona, Randall Thad, and Shai Lynn. Clara enjoyed spending time with her husband and children and great grandchildren and attending their many sporting events over the years. She was their biggest fan, always. Clara enjoyed spending time with her siblings and their families at Beavers Bend. She always enjoyed going on family vacations.

Clara is preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Lila Mae Smith; brothers, Charles Smith, Bernard Smith and Melvin Smith; sister, Dortha Faye Cooper. Clara is also preceded in death by her daughter, Rhonda Cathey-Wood.

Clara is survived by her husband, Thad Cathey; son and daughter in law Randy and LaDonna Cathey; daughter and daughter in law, Shai and Candy Cathey; granddaughters Jessica Wood; Makenzee Ingle, and Deeandra Ingle; grandsons, Christopher Cathey, Thad Cathey, Randall Cathey and Austin Cathey; great grandchildren, Courtney, Karissa, Taylor, Katelyn, Peyton, Thad, Randall, Cori, Cash, Sadie, Macarius, Skyla, and Stella; great great grandchildren, Adelyn Kate, Jaxon DeBois and Thad. Any many nieces, nephews, friends and extended family.
