ADA-Services for Christopher Elliott "Chris" Davis, 56, Ada, are 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Trinity Baptist Church, Dr. Rusty Fuller and Rev. Famous Cochran will officiate. Burial will follow at Leader Cemetery. A wake service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Friday at Criswell Funeral Home Chapel.
Mr. Davis died Wednesday, July 29, 2009 at his home. He was born January 14, 1953 at Ada, Oklahoma to Jacob and Dorothy Irene Townsend Davis. He attended Napier grade school, Ada Jr. High School and graduated from Ada High School. He then attended Langston University and went to work for Kerr McGee Corporation.
Mr. Davis returned to Ada and began working for Burlington Railroad and married Inola Simmons. He began his career with the Ada Fire Department and retired after 22 years of service.
He was a member of Philemon Baptist Church, where he served on the Usher Board and the Junior Royal Ambassadors. He also participated on a softball team "Just Us" which played together for many years.
Survivors include three sons, Cameron Davis, Ada, LaShawn Davis, Oklahoma City, and Christopher Davis and wife Sarah, Oklahoma City; a daughter, Khalena Davis Carr and husband James, Oklahoma City; his mother, Dorothy Irene Davis, Oklahoma City; grandchildren, Mikalya Jacobi Davis and Braden Davis; three sisters, Gwendolyn Bagby, Ardmore, DeLoyce McKinney, Spencer and Sharon Dianne Davis, Spencer; three brothers, William Davis and wife Debra, Ardmore, Charles Michael Davis and wife Susan, Los Angeles, CA, and Mark Vincent and wife Shenette, Houston, TX; many nieces and nephews; guardian angel brothers, Robert Williams, Sammy Jo Craig, Donnie Vincent and Tyrone Frazier; best friends, Keith Issacs, Mike Seymour and Roy Throne; and many other relatives and friends including Jimmy and Caroline Simmons and longtime friend, Kerma L. Grayson and family.
He was preceded in death by his father, Jacob Davis.
Bearers will be the City of Ada Fire Department.
